Mr. Austin is Chair of Kirton & McConkie's Constitutional, Religious & Appellate Practice Section and a member of its Risk Management & Insurance Defense Practice Section. His practice emphasizes litigation and preventative advice in the area of child abuse and sexual misconduct. He advises national organizations about dealing with and preventing sexual misconduct claims. Mr. Austin joined Kirton & McConkie in 1993.
 
Experience
  • Served as a judicial clerk to the late Charles Wiggins of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit
  • Successfully litigated and otherwise resolved hundreds of sexual misconduct claims
  • Possesses extensive appellate experience before the Utah Court of Appeals, Utah Supreme Court, Eighth, Ninth and Tenth Circuits, and other courts across the country
  • Guest Lecturer, BYU J. Reuben Clark School of Law
  • Frequent lecturer on the topic of Handling and Preventing Sexual Misconduct Claims
