Mr. Anderson is a member of Kirton McConkie’s International Practice Section and is affiliated with the Corporate Section. He also serves as Chair of the newly-formed Southern Utah Legal Services Section, a 10+ lawyer branch office in St. George, Utah. He focuses on international commercial law and international sales related projects through the EU and parts of Asia, and medical device manufacturing and worldwide distribution for Utah based companies. He is also passionately involved in matters that arise from and affect the economy and environs of southern and rural Utah, where he has resided for his entire career as a lawyer.
Mr. Anderson’s work addresses the coordination and harmonization of legal services and corporate governance for multinational corporate organizations to allow them to navigate efficiently through and comply with US and non- US law. He works in conjunction with carefully selected legal professionals in various parts of the world to handle issues such as site selection, comparative law evaluation, entity selection and set-up, government and regulatory compliance, audits, transfer pricing, labor and employment, leasing, technology licensing, manufacturing and supply chains, evaluation of foreign investment options, protection of intellectual property, permanent establishment, and compliance with privacy directives and regulations. His work supports the ongoing operation of client enterprises, including overseeing multinational litigation and dispute resolution when needed.
After spending the first decade of his career as a trial lawyer, Mr. Anderson repented and converted to a transactional practice which, in addition to dealing with emerging international matters, also focused on business in southern Utah, where he has assisted clients with commercial and recreational real estate development, including ski resorts, golf courses, medical service and technology companies, public lands and environmental matters. He has facilitated the move of tech companies and large retail centers to the area. Mr. Anderson was instrumental in bringing to Utah its second major medical school, Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine, and he currently chairs its Utah advisory board. His legal practice and public involvement is interwoven with government relations, higher education, technology development and healthcare. He has served as outside counsel to the Space Dynamics Lab at Utah State University, a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency facility; a Trustee of the University of Utah (member of the executive committee of the University for 6 of his 8 years on the board); a Trustee of the University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics; a member of the State Board of Business and Economic Development; Chair of the State’s Centers of Excellence Review Committee; and President of the Dixie College Foundation. Mr. Anderson is a registered lobbyist in the State of Utah and with the US Congress, representing clients in complex government and policy matters that affect land issues in southern Utah.
