Overview

Jim Pratt practices in the firm’s Real Estate section and focuses on commercial finance and banking, condominium law, environmental and land use law, land development, and mortgage lending and real estate law.

From 1986 until 2023, Mr. Pratt practiced law in Florida, doing work with the firms Graham, Builder, Jones, Pratt & Marks and Burr & Forman. He joined Kirton McConkie in July 2023.

Throughout his practice, Mr. Pratt has represented banks in all types of mortgage loan transactions, and land developers in acquisitions, entitlement, and construction of residential, commercial, industrial, and mixed-use projects. He represents property owners in all issues relating to ownership, leasing, development, and use of real estate. In recent years, he has participated in several of the most significant land development and transportation projects to take place in Orange and Osceola Counties, Florida.

Mr. Pratt served for many years on the three-member Executive Committee of Graham, Builder, Jones, Pratt, & Marks in Winter Park, Florida. From 2010 to 2015, he served as managing partner of Burr & Forman’s Orlando office. From July 2015 to July 2018, he took a sabbatical to serve as president of the Canada Halifax Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, overseeing the efforts and well-being of more than 350 missionaries. As a young man, he served a two-year mission for the church in France and Belgium. He also taught French at Brigham Young University and speaks French fluently.
